Rules and Regulations

The following school rules and regulations must be observed at all times. Violation of any of these rules and regulations may lead to immediate termination of the student.
  1. Reporting to school under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or use of the same on school property.
  2. Excessive use of profanity.
  3. Verbal or physical abuse of any member of the faculty or another student.
  4. Stealing school property or the property of another student.
  5. Excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
  6. Failure to keep tuition account current.
  7. Unsatisfactory progress.

Entrance Qualifications

Since the courses at Old Colony Trade & Technical School are very specialized, the following entrance requirements are minimum.
  1. The applicant must be 18 years of age.
  2. The applicant must be either a high school graduate or must have obtained a G.E.D.
  3. The applicant must be able to do basic computations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, with whole numbers, fractions & decimals.

For Master & Journeyman Plumbing License Code Courses the applicant must be a registered apprentice plumber or a licensed journeyman plumber in order to take either code courses.

 

Satisfactory Progress

  1. To be considered to be making satisfactory progress a student:
    1. Must have cumulative grade average in excess of 70%
    2. Must not have absences in excess of 15% of the course total hours
    3. Must have his/her course material completed within the maximum time frame of one and one half times the course length. (Leave of absence time is not counted in determining maximum time frame)
  2. Probation: A student will be placed on probation if any of the above listed requirements are not met. A student will remain on probation until the next evaluation period. If grade or attendance average has improved to minimum requirements, the student will be taken off probation. If no improvement is made, the student faces termination or a repeat of of the failed examination period or periods. (There is no additional charge for repeated periods and only the new grade will count for the cumulative grade average)

Materials for Courses

Students should supply themselves with:
  1. Pens & Pencils
  2. Three ring binder
  3. A Hi-Lighter marker
For Plumbing Code Courses:
  1. An up-to-date Plumbing and Gas code book
  2. A 6-inch ruler

Attendance Policy

  1. Absenteeism: Regular attendance is required. Serious illness, doctor's excuse, or death in family are the only acceptable reasons for absence. Any one with unexcused absences, exceeding 15% of the training, will be subject to termination
  2. Make-Up Work: There is no additional charge for extra training or make-up work.
  3. Tardiness: Any student not physically present at the start of the class will be considered tardy. A tardy student must report to the office and a late pass will be issued. All tardiness will be noted and kept as a matter of record.
  4. Leave of absence: A leave of absence will be granted to a student experiencing personal problems and he/she may return in the future. The leave may be granted for up to one year.
  5. Students receiving VA benefits under Title 38 are required to maintain 90% or better attendance. A certificate of completion will be granted only when the student, through attendance and make-up time, completes the total hours of the program. The veteran will not be charged for make up time.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

  1. You may terminate this agreement at any time
  2. If you terminate this agreement within five business days you will receive a refund of all monies paid, provided you have not commenced the program
  3. If you subsequently terminate this agreement prior to the commencement of the program, you will receive a refund of all monies paid, less the actual reasonable administrative costs**
  4. If you terminate this agreement after the 1st week but within the 1st quarter of the program, you will receive a refund of at least 75%, less the actual reasonable administrative costs**
  5. If you terminate this agreement during the 2nd quarter of the program, you will receive a refund of at least 50%, less the actual reasonable administrative costs**
  6. If you terminate this agreement during the 3rd quarter of the program, you will receive a refund of at least 25%, less the actual reasonable administrative costs**
  7. The school is not obligated to provide any refund if you terminate this agreement during the 4th quarter of the program
  8. If you wish to terminate this agreement, you must inform the school in writing, the termination becomes effective the date mailed
  9. If you wish to terminate this agreement after the initial 5 day period, you will be responsible for actual reasonable administrative costs incurred by the school to enroll you and to process the application, which administrative costs shall not exceed $50.00 or 5% of the contract price, which ever is less

    NOTE: * The terminate date for refund computation purposes is the last date of actual attendance by the student. Any monies due the student shall be refunded within 30 days after cancellation or termination. ** Administrative costs equal $50.00
