Apprentice Plumbing Course
225 Hours of "Hands On" and Theory Training

  1. Plumbing Principles as pertaining to code

Heating & Air Conditioning Course

This is a combination of two courses taken consecutively, the Oil Burner Course and the Air Conditioning Course.

Journeyman Plumbing License Code Course

  • Mathematics - Necessary for the State Journeyman Plumbing Examination

Master Plumbing License Code Course
Course Content

  • Law - License laws and Massachusetts State Plumbing and Gas Regulations. Responsibility of Master Plumber regarding Journeyman and Apprentice Plumbers in his employ. Appeal procedures to the state board
  • Advanced Mathematics - Review of Plumbing Mathematics for the Master Plumbing Examination. Business Mathematics and Blueprint Mathematics
  • Standard Sketches - All standard sketches plus detailed explanation of these sketches. Also, the Compressed Air Sewerage Ejector, Hospital Fixtures
  • Piping Layout and Design - Advanced waste systems; vent systems; Hot Water Systems for multi-storied building, coupled with variations of designs. In-depth practice in special waste layouts in accordance with D.E.Q.E. regulations as stated in the Mass. Plumbing and Gas Code
  • Advanced Pipe Sizing - Water Pipes; Waste Pipes; Vent Pipes (All Multi-Storied)
  • Boiler Laws - In-depth study and analysis of section 17, 18, & 19 of Chapter 142 of the Massachusetts General Laws (included with the Plumbing Code) Plumbing Laws
  • Advanced Gas - Sizing of multi-storied gas systems. Using conversion factors to size gas systems with a variety of pressure drops
  • Plumbing and Gas Codes - General questions from past Master Plumbing Examinations with code page references where possible
  • Blueprints - Reading of plumbing prints; Figuring scale, Pitch, Elevations and plan information relevant to the Master Plumbing License Examination

Short Term Journeyman and Short Term Master Code Courses

Both of these courses are 32 hours in lengths and cover the last ten State Plumbing examinations for either the Journeyman candidate or Master candidate for the examination.

Examination Requirements for the Journeyman and Master Plumbing License Code Course

The student should call the Board of Examiners of Plumbers and Gas fitters immediately upon registering at school (617) 727-9950 and request an application for their particular examination.

The application booklet contains all of the requirements set forth by the board.
